Those glasses you clicked at the top of the page? Their reflective silver sticker connects to a HeadMouse camera perched on my

laptop's screen. I've written millions of words with this combination and my onscreen keyboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you write?

I have a column generating disability awareness called Putting the Visibility in Disability. It appears in the Altoona Mirror's Mirror Moms newspaper tab. You can read my thoughts and advice on several topics

here.

In fiction, I write young adult novels with lots of historical and time travel themes. I'm a former archivist with a Master's degree in Archives, Museums, and Editing History. The past is kinda my thing.

When did you start writing?

At four years old, I wrote a story about how my grandma lost her purse. My mother thought it was hysterical. Her mother-in-law wasn’t as thrilled. After story number one, I had a fan and a critic.

Where do you get your ideas from? Are your characters or books based on real life?

After my purse story, I learned completely fictional characters for fiction work best. So, no, my characters and books come from the depths of my slightly warped brain.

If there is a real historical figure in a scene, I do my absolute best to portray them as they were when they lived.

My column is 100% based on me and my experiences rocking a disability!

So, you like time travel. Where would you go, if you could?

Here are four choices (out of thousands)… I’d love to hear jazz in a New York City speakeasy in 1925, use a bathroom in a newly built twelfth century castle, go to Dey's Arena on December 19, 1917, to see the first NHL game ever played, and watch the pilgrims land in Massachusetts in 1620.

I’m a visitor and would be happy staying whenever for a day or two, one week at max, as long as it's safe. I do not want to lose my head or catch the bubonic plague! I love modern conveniences and modern medicine too much to live in the past permanently.

If you're asking about going to the future or an alternate timeline...

Would you go back to high school if you could?

Only if I knew what I know now and had an unlimited amount of money at my disposal. Even then, I’m not sure I’d go back. College, however, is a different story. I’d probably do that in a heartbeat.

But...hmmmm...I'd have to do it in one of the multiverses where I didn't exist or I'd risk corrupting the timeline here, there'd be A TON of math involved, and nothing would go smoothly, so, ah, no, I'm good!

Where have you lived?

Mostly all over Pennsylvania and Maryland. I spent a summer in Falkirk, Scotland, and a college semester in Bristol, England.
